Project Overview

Orientamento CSIA is an academic project developed as a school assignment, created as part of a course evaluation. It is therefore not a real implemented product, but a design exercise aimed at developing UX and UI design skills.

Objective

The goal of the project was to design an app that helps students, teachers, and external visitors navigate the CSIA building. The structure of the building is quite complex and is often perceived as a maze, making it difficult to locate classrooms, offices, and other spaces.

Strategy

The main challenge was to design an interface that was simple, intuitive, and accessible, considering that the app would be used by users from a wide age range.

The goal was to create a clear navigation system that would allow users to quickly find the information they need and easily move through the building.

UI Design

The brand identity was designed to convey spirituality in a more refined and contemporary way.

Instead of relying on overly mystical or stereotypical visuals, the focus was on creating a balanced, elegant aesthetic that communicates calm, trust, and professionalism while still reflecting the spiritual nature of the services offered.

UI&UX design

The User Experience design was developed in collaboration with a classmate, with whom I also worked on the ideation and concept development of the app.

I was mainly responsible for the UI design, while all the videos included in the project (except for the presentation video) were created by my classmate.
For the User Interface, my goal was to maintain a strong sense of institutional identity by respecting the project brief, which required visual consistency with the Canton’s guidelines.
At the same time, I introduced subtle elements of modernity, considering that the project was developed for an art school and therefore avoiding a solution that felt too rigid or generic.

The proposed solution is an orientation app inspired by Google Maps, but intentionally simplified. The idea was to avoid the technical complexity of a real-time navigation system and instead create a more accessible tool. Users can select specific starting points and destinations, and the app provides a pre-defined route.

Navigation works step by step: the user is guided through each point of the route and, once a step is reached, can continue to the next one until arriving at the final destination.

In addition to navigation, the app also includes an information section with the opening hours of the school’s main services (such as the administration office, cafeteria and library) and an events page where exhibitions and activities organized by the school and its students are presented, both inside the building and in external locations.

Finally, the app prototyping was developed in Figma, where an interactive prototype was created to simulate the navigation and test the user experience flow.

To accompany the project, we also created a promotional video for the application, aimed at presenting the concept and the main features of the solution in a clear and engaging way.I worked on the creation of the base animation movements, which were later refined and further developed by a classmate.

I also contributed to the music selection and sound design, helping to define the rhythm and overall atmosphere of the video.

The result is a short and dynamic video designed to communicate the project in a clear and accessible way.
